Here in the Phoenix area, there are thousands of men and women of all ages that are struggling daily with worries, tension, and concerns. That constant worrying and nervousness may be a very common mental health condition, known as “Generalized Anxiety Disorder,” or “GAD.”

Luckily, GAD is a highly treatable condition, and those that feel they may be struggling with it should give me a call. Together, we can use evidence-based strategies that can help you manage your anxiety and enjoy a better quality of life.

What is Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

Generalized anxiety disorder is a common type of anxiety. It can best be described as “chronic anxiety.” For some, it is more physical, where individuals feel as though they are nervous even though they are not having any nervous thoughts. Symptoms may include:

  • Fatigue
  • Shaking/Nervous Energy
  • Insomnia
  • Muscle Aches
  • Stomach Discomfort

For others it is more mental, where they find themselves worrying all throughout the day about issues both small and large. For example:

  • What if I’m late turning in this paper?
  • I haven’t heard from my husband all day. What if he’s in a car accident?
  • What if I don’t have time to buy the pillow before my dad visits?

Those worries often lead to feelings of frequent stress, and may be distracting all throughout the day.
